In 2002, Chiltern Railways started a project to restore and reopen the terminus at Birmingham Moor Street. Once this had been completed, work started in 2005 to bring the 1987 through platforms up to the same standard as the rest of the station.
The following photographs, all taken from approximately the same position on the current platform 1 shows the progress while the Stourbridge bound platform 2 was completely refurbished.

Most of the canopy work has been completed while work continues on the steps from the bridge to the platform.
